With the intention of promoting the dedication and commitment of Richmond Staff in accomplishing the targets of teaching learning processes of the college , a special capacity development programme was launched on last 4th and 5th at the Nilwala National College of Education. This programme which was totally guided and monitored by the college principal, Mr Sampath Weragoda , consisted of a number of useful programmes targeted at the said theme. The programme was started with the marvelous aesthetic programme conducted by Mr Sudath Samarasinghe , the Deputy Director General of National Institute of Education . The theme of his lecture was how music and aesthetics can be utilized for the moral development and a creative process of teaching. Next in the workshop was the activity based training given to teachers for planning a question paper of better standard and it was conducted by Mr Sanath Poojitha ,the Deputy Director General of Education at National Institute of Education. It, undoubtedly was of immense use for all participants in overcoming the obstacles and problems so far they were facing in the particular field.
“Sahodarathwaye Sendewa” ( The Evening of the Brotherhood ), the entertainment programme which brought out the hidden talents of the participants in aesthetics,was a memorable one and it was subject to appreciation of all who witnessed it.
The whole morning session of the second day had been allocated for sports activities and all participants had a gala actively participating in all events.
The special lecture delivered by Mr B.Sooriarachchi, the former Principal of the college was of immeasurable value as it was totally focused on how the renowned Richmond identity should be bestowed to the younger generation.
This praise worthy training progarm cum workshop was solely sponsored by the Welfare Sub Committee of Richmond Old Boys Association .Special thanks should be conveyed to the Richmond Old Boys Association, the Welfare Sub Committee of the OBA and Mr Sedara Senerath , President of Nilwala National College of Education for his tremendous co operation given in the venture. Mr Sunil Dahanayake ,the Secretary of the College OBA, Mr B. Sooriarachchi the former principal of Richmond College and Mr Sampath Weragoda the principal of the College took part in the closing ceremony of the programme .
